Dubai: The rich scent of history lingers in the alleyways of AlUla's Old Town, where echoes of the past still resonate within its ancient mud-brick walls.
Mohammed Al Imam, a lifelong resident, fondly recalls the town’s vibrant past, where homes stood close together, fostering a deeply connected and cooperative community. "The old town was, and still is, the beating heart of AlUla," he told SPA. "We were raised here, surrounded by palm groves and cherished family gatherings."
He reminisces about bustling markets teeming with vendors selling dates, perfumes, and AlUla’s renowned handicrafts. Ramadan nights were especially magical, with children playing in the streets as families gathered for iftar.
Today, the Royal Commission for AlUla is restoring the town, preserving its heritage while enhancing its appeal as a cultural and tourist destination.
