Dubai: Saudi Arabia has reported the detection of new coronavirus cases, bringing the kingdom’s tally of infections to 89,011, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday.

Twenty-four COVID-19 patients have died in a single day, the highest number of fatalities reported since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. This brings the country’s death toll to 549.

The ministry also announced the recovery of 1,484 COVID-19 patients after receiving treatment, raising to 65,790 the total number of recovered cases.

A total of 12,285 infections have been reported in one week, the ministry’s spokesperson said during the daily press conference.
