Qatar reports 216 new coronavirus cases

Total infections surge to 2, 728 as 20 make full recovery

Dubai: Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced another 216 new confirmed coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections to 2, 728, Qatar News Agency reported.

Twenty more people have also recovered from the virus, taking the total number of patients recovered in Qatar to 247, the ministry revealed.

The new cases have been put into quarantine and are receiving the necessary medical care.

The MoPH also said it conducted laboratory tests for 2,412 people in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus tests to date to 47,751.

The MoPH called on citizens and residents under home quarantine to strictly adhere to quarantine procedures and stressed the importance of staying at home and physical distancing to curb the outbreak of coronavirus in Qatar.

Qatar has reported six virus-related deaths so far, and 247 recoveries.

The number of new cases in Qatar peaked on April 5 and has since been going down, according to data collected by John Hopkins University.
