Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of Social Affairs has launched an inspection drive to ensure nurseries are safe for children, according to Qatar’s daily Al Rayyah.
The campaign comes after more than a dozen children died in a local mall fire in May.
Ahmad Nasr Al Nasr, Assistant Undersecretary at the ministry, said that nurseries that do not meet the standards will be given two months to comply with the standards and add reliable safety measures. Those who do not comply will be shut down immediately.
No licence for a nursery will be issued before a team from the ministry inspects, he added
