Muscat: Miscreants in Sur, east of Muscat, set two government offices on fire in the early hours on Monday, according to residents of the coastal town.

"Small rooms in the Housing Ministry building and Municipality offices were burnt," a resident told Gulf News from Sur.

However, an elderly security guard of the Housing Ministry building suffered a heart attack after the fire started and later died.

"The death of the security guard was not due to the fire but due to natural causes," a reliable hospital source said from Sur.
