Four expatriates arrested for kidnapping housemaid

Muscat: Four Asian expatriates were arrested for kidnapping a housemaid in Sadaa area of Salalah province in the south of Oman.

The accused kidnapped the victim while she was out of her sponsor’s house, according to police statement.

The accused are said to have kept the victim in captivity for days in a rented house in Salalah.

After a massive manhunt, police arrested the culprits and rescued the victim. It was not clear if the maid had suffered physical abuse.

They were all handed to the Public Prosecution.

The accused could face three years in jail for kidnapping as per the Omani penal code.
