Five students killed in car crash in Oman

Muscat: Five students were killed in a collision road accident in Al Touq area of Izki province on Wednesday morning.

Another three people were injured in the car crash.

One of the victims was an eight-year-old boy travelling with his family.

The accident occurred when of the drivers wrongly overtook a car causing a collision.

Speeding is the main cause for the road accidents over the past three years, according to statistics.

According to the Royal Omani police, 428 people were killed in 2014 and 1,743 were injured.

In 2013, 471 people were killed and 6,923 were injured.
