Muscat: The first Arab Forum on ‘The Role of Arab Woman in the Administrative Development' will discuss the Islamic perspective of women's role in administrative development, according to Sheikh Khalid Bin Omar Al Marhoun, Civil Service Minister and Chairman of the Public Administration Institute.

The three-day conference to be held at the Al Bustan Palace Hotel from October 16 to 18 coincides with Omani Woman Day, October 17.

"We are proud of the achievement made by His Majesty the Sultan in terms of the status of Omani women. This encouraged us to organise forums at the Arab level in the presence of prominent women in the administrative field in the Arab world," he said during a press conference at the Civil Service Ministry on Sunday.

The minister pointed out the experience of Omani women is a source of inspiration for many women in the Arab countries. The forum aims to highlight the experience of Arab women in general and Omani woman in particular during the Blessed Renaissance march.

Sayyid Salim Bin Musallam Al Busaidi, Undersecretary at the Civil Service Ministry for Administrative Development Affairs, Deputy Chairman of the Public Administration Institute, said the forum seeks to launch systematic efforts to study the role of Omani women in administrative development and to tap their capabilities in developing Arab administration.

The conference will focus on the opportunities, potential and the pioneering role of the Arab woman in administrative development, and experiences of excellence by women from the Arab world and elsewhere.
