Seven Bahraini murder suspects face trial

Manama: Bahrain's military prosecutor on Sunday said he had transferred the case of seven men suspected of killing two policemen to the relevant courts.

Policemen Kashif Ahmad Mansoor, 20, and Mohammad Farooq Abdul Samad were killed during the unrest.

"The suspects' cases were transferred to the courts for premeditated murder under the 2011 state of national safety and according to Article 333b of the 1976 penal code and Articles Two and Three of the 2006 anti-terrorism law," the military prosecutor said, quoted by Bahrain Television.

The prosecutor said that all cases of security-related crimes are being investigated and will be transferred gradually to the courts while preserving the suspects' rights.

Bahrain last month declared the state of national safety, emergency laws that are short of martial laws, for three months "to ensure security and stability after weeks of unrest."
