Athens: Riots raged in several Greek cities on Sunday after police shot dead a teenage boy in Athens.
The rioting began late on Saturday soon after the shooting in the central Exarchia district, where youths threw petrol bombs at police and burned dozens of cars.
It quickly spread to Greece's second largest city of Thessaloniki, Crete, Corfu and other areas.
The shooting of the boy has prompted Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos to offer his resignation, which was rejected by the prime minister.
Pavlopoulos said in a statement that an investigation is underway. Two police officers were arrested and being questioned over the incident, according to a police statement.
