London: Prince Harry is to resume his role of training young soldiers in the techniques he learned in battle during his 10-week tour of duty in Afghanistan, The Daily Telegraph said.
The Prince, who had the lives of troops in his hands in his role as a Forward Air Controller (JTAC), will help train fellow members of the Household Cavalry before they are posted to Iraq and Afghanistan. In his role in the volatile Helmand province, the Prince was calling in air strikes and carrying out surveillance of Taliban fighters. His military base, only 500 yards from Taliban positions, came under mortar and machinegun attack five times every day. It was Prince Harry who would give final clearance for attacks on Taliban targets. He also guided in some bombing runs.
When he returns to his regiment, the 23-year-old will train other soldiers in the same techniques using computer technology.
New job
One senior source said: "He has returned four weeks earlier than expected and we are not going to give a running commentary on what he will do next. But he will be given a new job. He will receive more training and will give support to others engaged in training.
"As the Prince has trained as a Forward Air Controller they will be keen for him to continue in that field and to pass on what he has learnt. But first he will have a well-deserved break and holiday away."
Next month, he will complete two years' service and will automatically be promoted to full lieutenant.
