Al Ain: A civil court in Al Ain has ordered a former employee to repay Dh119,965 to his previous employer after failing to deposit cash instalments he collected from clients during his tenure.

Nine years of service as money collector

The Al Ain Court of Civil, Commercial, and Administrative Claims found that the employee, who worked as a money collector for approximately nine years, had misappropriated funds by withholding payments due to the company. He received a total monthly salary of Dh5,500, including a basic salary of Dh3,300.

Lawsuit seeks nearly Dh129,000

The company filed a lawsuit to recover Dh128,966 in allegedly misappropriated funds. The claim also included the cost of a consultancy report documenting the missing amounts, 5 percent legal interest from the date of the claim until full repayment, and court fees.

Expert confirms internal investigation

The court appointed an expert to examine the case. The expert’s report confirmed that the company had conducted an internal investigation into the employee’s handling of cash payments. It concluded that he had collected instalments from clients but failed to deposit the amounts with the company.

Court confirms employee’s liability

After reviewing the employee’s objections, the expert determined that the amount in question—Dh119,965—accurately reflected payments collected by the employee but never transferred to the company. Based on the findings, the court confirmed the debt and ruled that the employee must repay the unlawfully retained sum.
