Dhaka: Police in Bangladesh say a family of six has been killed after a flash flood washed away their mud hut in a northeastern district.
Local police officer Mohammad Shahajahan said torrential monsoon rains early Saturday inundated parts of Habiganj district, 120 kilometers (75 miles) northeast of the capital, Dhaka.
He said a couple and their four young children died when their hillside hut collapsed in an onrush of flood water.
The Flood Forecasting and Warning Center in Dhaka said heavy seasonal rainfall has triggered flash floods in eastern Bangladesh, bordering India.
