Woman gang-raped on pretext of job in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A 35-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three persons in Odisha’s Jajpur district, after they lured her using the pretext of offering her employment, the police said on Sunday.

The three men lured the woman and gang-raped her on Saturday evening, then dumped her near a bypass. The locals rescued the woman and informed the police.

Police said the woman, who is estranged from her husband, is a resident of Kuakhia area of Jajpur. “After getting the information, we rescued the woman and brought her here. We have recorded her statement and initiated an investigation,” said Korei police station inspector Chinmaye Sahu.
