Indian man murders ageing mother in Delhi over property dispute

Greed and anger pushed him too far. He strangled his 70-year-old mother – all in the name of property.

As per a news report by the Indian news site indiatoday.in, about two days’ ago, Maya Devi as part of an ongoing scrap with her eldest son Rajveer, cut off the electricity supply to the floor of the house he lived on.

What was the reason?

The mother of five owns some land and the house the family was staying in, located in New Delhi’s Jyoti Nagar area. Rajveer was involved in a civil case against his mother over his share of the property.

On the night of the murder, the son apparently had a blazing row with his old mother over the cutting of the electricity supply. Following that, raging with fury, he roped in his son Akash to help kill Maya Devi.

Have they been caught?

The father-son duo then fled, but the case was reported to the police. Following a detailed post mortem and forensic investigation, it was found that Rajveer and Akash were responsible for the old woman’s murder.

There has been no update on their arrest, yet.
