Hyderabad; Abdul Khayyum Khan, the new commissioner of Hyderabad city police, the first Muslim officer to occupy the position after 34 years, has said that it was a great privilege to head the city police and curbing corruption will be his top priority.
Khan, who was transferred from Additional Director-General, law and order, to the post of the police commissioner, will be formally taking charge soon from B. Prasad Rao who had completed two years in the office.
Khan told reporters that it will not be very difficult for him to meet the challenges as he has served earlier in the city in different capacities.
Since the formation of the state of Andhra Pradesh, Khan is the fourth Muslim to occupy the position.
