Boy jumps to death from Delhi Metro station; suicide note blames teachers

A 16-year-old Class 10 student at a well-known Delhi school died by suicide on Tuesday after jumping from the Rajendra Place Metro Station. His family has accused three teachers and the school principal of mentally harassing him, claiming the pressure drove him to take his own life.

The teenager left behind a suicide note in which he blamed members of the school’s teaching staff for the distress he was facing. His father has now filed a police case, demanding strict action, NDTV reported.

Call from Metro station

According to the FIR, the boy had left for school at his usual time of 7.15am. The tragedy came to light when his father received a call around 2.45pm informing him that his son was found injured near the elevated Rajendra Place Metro Station in central Delhi.

The caller took the teenager to BL Kapoor Hospital. When the family arrived, they were told he had not survived.

Police believe the boy jumped from the Metro platform. His family says he had repeatedly complained about harassment by teachers, noting that earlier complaints made to the school were ignored.

Allegations of threats and humiliation

The father told investigators that his son had been under severe stress because of repeated threats and humiliation at school. According to the family, one teacher had warned the teenager over the past four days that he could be removed from the school and issued a transfer certificate.

Another teacher had allegedly pushed him on a previous occasion.

The father also recounted what friends told him about events during a dramatics class on Tuesday. The boy fell during the activity, after which a teacher allegedly mocked him and accused him of “overacting.” The teenager was reportedly scolded until he began to cry, only to be told he could “cry as much as he wanted,” and that it made no difference.

The father said the school principal was present during the incident but did nothing to intervene.

Family chose not to escalate earlier

The family said they had avoided escalating the matter before because the boy’s board-related exams were approaching. His father told PTI they did not want any disruption that might affect his Class 10 performance.

“His exams were due in one or two months. Twenty marks come from the school. I did not want to disturb anything,” he said. The family had promised the teenager he would be shifted to a different school after the exams.

Contents of the suicide note

In his suicide note, found in his school bag, the boy wrote: "Sorry mummy, I broke your heart many times and I am doing it for the last time. This is how the teachers in the school are, what do I say?"

The boy apologised to his family, writing that he felt he had “no choice” because of what had happened at school. He asked that whoever found the letter inform a specific contact number.

He also expressed a wish for his organs to be donated “if they are in a condition to work.”

The note names the principal and two teachers, stating that his last wish is for action to be taken against them so no other child suffers the same fate.

He apologised to his older brother for being rude, thanked his mother for her support, and told his father he was sorry he could not grow into the man he wanted him to be.

“I am sorry, but the teachers have behaved badly with me,” he wrote.
