New Delhi: An Indian suspected of masterminding an illegal kidney racket is expected to appear in a New Delhi court on Sunday, according to media reports.

Amit Kumar arrived in New Delhi on Saturday after he was extradited from Nepal where he was detained for two days.

Kumar was taken into police custody for interrogation. Kumar allegedly lured or forced hundreds of people into giving up their kidneys and made millions selling the organs.

He has been charged with causing grievous harm with a weapon, wrongful confinement and fraud, the Indian Express reported. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

The Central Bureau of Investigation will ask a local court on Sunday for an extended custody of Kumar, television reports said.
