Dhaka: A journalist of a leading Dhaka daily has earned the reputation of being the first Bangladeshi to scale Mount Everest, newspaper reports quoting unofficial reports said here on Monday.
"Mousa Ebrahim has scaled Mount Everest as the first Bangladeshi," the Daily Star reported quoting his expedition manager.
The Himalayan Guide expedition operator earlier told the Germany's Deutsche Welle Bangla Service that Ebrahim climbed the summit along with 14 Nepalese, six Britons, the Montenegrins and a US national and a Serb.
The Star reported that they now await the official conformation on the first feat of a Bangladeshi, who happened to be a sub-editor of the daily.
The expedition manager said they received the report of the successful mission of the group from their Tibet base camp yesterday hours after the team departed from their last camp, situated at 8,300 metres.
