Kandahar: A suicide car bomber attacked a group of international troops in southern Afghanistan on Monday, killing three NATO soldiers and four Afghans, officials said.

Three soldiers and a translator for the troops were killed, and four soldiers were wounded in the attack in the Gereshk district of Helmand province, a spokesman for NATO's International Security Assistance Force said. NATO did not give the soldiers nationalities.

Provincial police Chief Mohammad Hussein Andiwal said the suicide car bomb killed three Afghan civilians and wounded seven others.

Two Danish soldiers were among the dead, and one was lightly wounded, said Maj. Gen. Poul Kiaerskou, head of the Danish Army Operational Command.

Kiaerskou said the Danes were patrolling in Gereshk with their unit and had just arrived at a bazaar when ''presumably'' a suicide bomber killed them," he said.
