Anita Benans, a 25-year-old Malayali woman from Kollam, Kerala, was found dead in her Toronto home on Tuesday afternoon. Her housemates discovered her body in the bathroom and immediately alerted authorities, according to media reports.
According to Mathrubhumi, Anita had spoken to her mother on Monday, mentioning that she had a fever and had been on medical leave for two days prior to her passing.
Canadian police transported Anita's body to a hospital and have registered a case. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death is ongoing. Authorities have stated that the body will be released to the family once the probe is complete.
Anita’s autopsy was completed on Thursday, and the family is awaiting the official report to begin the repatriation process. Her cousin has already arrived in Toronto to assist with the arrangements, sources told Onmanorama.
Anita, daughter of Benans Alphonse and Rajani, hailed from Aishwarya Nagar, Kottur Padinjattathil, Eravipuram, Kollam. Her father is a Gulf returnee, and her mother is a homemaker. She is also survived by her younger brother, Nikhil, who is currently in Class 11.
Anita had recently completed her post-graduation in Business Management and was working at a bank in Canada at the time of her death.
