Haiti's Prime Minister ousted after deadly protests over high food prices

Port-au-Prince: Haitian Prime Minister Jacques Edouard Alexis has been dismissed from his post after widespread anger over rising food prices that led to deadly protests.

President Rene Preval, who earlier announced plans to cut the price of rice, immediately said he would seek a replacement.

Alexis took office in 2006 with Preval's backing with the task of uniting the poor and fractious nation.
