African officials meet in Ethiopia to discuss Somalia crisis

Addis Ababa: East African officials are gathering in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa to discuss the deepening crisis in.

Foreign ministers will hold emergency meetings before heading off to talks by the African Union's peace and security council.

In the meetings on Sunday and Monday, the foreign ministers from the East African regional organisation Igad (Inter-governmental Authority on Development) and the AU's peace and security council will discuss the country's political and security crisis.

Ethiopia will withdraw its troops from Somalia by the end of the year, potentially worsening the situation in the restive country.

Somalia's government is facing its own crisis after President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmad's failed attempt to sack Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussain.
