Rain and lightning cause power outage in Fujairah

Fujairah: Heavy rain and lightning caused a power outage in the emirate of Fujairah for nearly two hours on Thursday.

Residents also reported hail in the emirate.

The power supply was cut from 6:39pm until 7:50pm, while heavy rain fell on the emirate.

According to the Federal Electricity and Water Authority, lightning caused a separation of three main overhead power lines, leading to a total interruption of electricity supply in Fujairah.

Fujairah resident Ahmad Al Yamahi told Gulf News that it started raining at 4pm and that there was also heavy lightning.

Bracing for likely flooding in the emirate, patrols from the police and the fire department were dispatched to control traffic movement and ensure the safety of residents.
