Worshippers to donate ‘drop of hope’ through mobile clinic every three months
Dubai: In a heartwarming gesture that underscores the spirit of community service, Dubai Health has expressed its appreciation to the Hindu Temple Dubai for organising a successful blood donation campaign.
The initiative, held as part of the temple’s outreach activities, saw worshippers coming forward to donate what was described as a "drop of hope" — a gesture aimed at saving lives and strengthening the culture of voluntary blood donation in the emirate.
In a recent social media post, Dubai Health said: “Dubai Health extends our gratitude to all the generous blood donors who participated in the recent blood drive at the Hindu Temple in Dubai. Your selfless act of kindness will save countless lives and make a significant impact on our community.”
The authority also shared a video of the campaign held recently at the temple premises in Jebel Ali’s Worship Village area.
Speaking to Gulf News, N Mohan, general manager of Hindu Temple Dubai, said the campaign was launched in collaboration with Dubai Health, which deployed a mobile blood donation clinic to the temple premises.
“We thank Dubai Health for supporting us in this cause by sending a mobile blood donation clinic to the temple,” he said.
The temple now plans to hold similar blood drives at least every three months, ensuring a steady stream of support for local blood banks.
“There were hundreds of worshippers willing to donate blood during the first camp,” Mohan said. “However, due to various limitations, not everyone who registered was able to donate. That said, we are glad that around 10 of our donors could meet the urgent need for A positive blood type, as requested by Dubai Health.”
The next blood donation drive at the temple is scheduled for May 30, with temple officials encouraging more community members to take part in this lifesaving initiative.
“One donor can save at least three lives. Hence, we encourage regular blood donation by people who meet the donation criteria,” added Mohan.
