The winning teams will take part in the global finals in the US
One of the world’s most prestigious competitions in artificial intelligence and robotics successfully concluded its 2024–25 season on June 21, 2025, at GEMS Cambridge High School, Abu Dhabi.
The landmark event brought together over 500 students aged 6–16, representing more than 50 schools across all seven Emirates, and was supported by over 100 educators and coaches, along with 50+ volunteers.
Under the theme “AI Guardians,” students showcased their creativity, collaboration, and technical expertise by developing innovative AI-powered robots in three key categories: Wizards, Innovators, and Creators.
Organised by STEM Lab UAE, in collaboration with global EdTech leader Brainy n Bright and The Cambridge High School, Abu Dhabi, the competition served as a powerful platform to inspire young learners and nurture the next generation of innovation leaders.
“This competition was truly unique, bringing together young innovators from across the UAE to explore AI through robotics. It was inspiring to witness their creativity, technical skills, and collaborative spirit,” said Ms. Kuki Tyagi, Principal of GEMS Cambridge High School, Abu Dhabi.
Winning teams from two major categories have now qualified to represent the UAE at the IRO Global Finals, which will take place in New Jersey, USA, in 2026.
Participating schools demonstrated remarkable innovation and technical prowess. Among the top-performing teams were students from GEMS Modern Academy – Dubai, The Cambridge High School – Abu Dhabi, Deira Private School – Dubai, Al Salam Community School – Dubai, Delhi Private School – Dubai, Sunrise English Private School – Abu Dhabi.
“Big things happen when awesome people work together,” said Dr. Aamir Rizwan, Chief Strategy Officer at Brainy n Bright and a renowned tech entrepreneur.
He added, “We are proud to lead the global EdTech transformation in alignment with the UAE’s vision. Hosting IRO 2024–25 in the UAE reaffirms our commitment to shaping innovative, future-ready minds.”
The event underscored the UAE’s pioneering role in integrating robotics, AI, and 3D design into mainstream education — domains that were once the preserve of advanced technical fields. With forward-thinking initiatives like IRO, the nation continues to cultivate a generation of innovators prepared to lead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Under the event tagline, “Driven to Win Together!”, students, educators, and partners came together to celebrate the power of collaboration, creativity, and the boundless potential of technology-driven learning.
