Truck crashes into lamp post, driver in critical condition

Sharjah: An Asian driver is fighting for his life in hospital after his truck rammed into lamp post on the Sharjah–Al Dhaid Road on Tuesday afternoon.

A Sharjah Police official said accident occurred due to high speed and sudden deviation.

The driver was found in critical condition when police officers and paramedics reached the accident site.

The driver was transferred to the Al Qassimi Hospital where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.

Police officers and municipality workers are currently clearing the road of debris.

Meanwhile, Sharjah Police urged motorists to pay attention to the road while driving and abide by traffic rules and speed limits. Police also urged drivers to avoid using a mobile phone while driving.
