Dubai: Motorists in the UAE who believe they have been wrongly fined for speeding or other traffic offences, such as not wearing a seatbelt, can now file formal objections through the Ministry of Interior, according to new guidance published on the ministry’s website.

The clarification follows repeated questions from drivers who suspect radar devices may have incorrectly recorded violations.

The ministry explained that each radar is calibrated to suit road conditions and that officials review both the violation and the device’s settings before deciding whether to cancel a fine.

Drivers wishing to challenge a traffic penalty can submit objections via the ministry’s website, the MoI smart app, or in person at designated service centres.

The process also covers cross-border fines within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). For vehicles registered under the federal traffic system, complaints can be filed through the ministry’s digital platforms. Vehicle owners in Dubai, however, must submit objections through the Dubai Police portal.
