Dubai: The Dubai Traffic Court has fined two Asian men of different nationalities after holding them jointly responsible for a road accident in which one ran over the other.

According to court records, the first defendant, a taxi driver, was driving without due caution and failed to account for surrounding conditions, striking the second defendant and causing varying injuries.

An investigation found that the pedestrian had been crossing the road from a non-designated area, in violation of traffic rules. A road accident expert concluded that both parties were at fault for the incident.

The first defendant, who did not appear in court, was fined Dh4,000 for unintentionally injuring another person. The second defendant, who attended the hearing and denied the charge, was fined Dh200 for failing to follow pedestrian regulations. The court dismissed his denial, citing the evidence and expert findings.
