Taxi companies asked to upgrade service

Dubai: The Public Transport Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently held separate meetings with three taxi franchise companies, namely Metro Taxi, Arabian and Cars, to upgrade the level of services offered to the public.

Eisa Abdul Rehman Al Dossary, CEO of the agency, noted that the taxi franchise companies needed to send drivers on intensive training courses.

"We need to cater to the increasing demand for taxis triggered by the urban expansion," he said.

He added the refusal by certain taxi drivers to take some passengers to their destinations, needed to be stopped.

He said there was a need to put in place an effective system to assess drivers and their daily performance from time to time.
