Abu Dhabi: The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ - Traffic and Patrols Directorate, announced that the current entrance leading to the Ministry of Labour and the Ministries Complex will be closed on Friday, September 3 to facilitate construction works on Al Salam Street, which will be the first freeway in Abu Dhabi Island.

Motorists heading to the Ministry of Labour and the Ministries Complex can follow traffic signs placed before the tunnel near Khalifa Park in both inbound and outbound Abu Dhabi roads.

Drivers coming from outbound Abu Dhabi have to stay on the rightmost lane and avoid entering the tunnel, whereas drivers coming from inbound Abu Dhabi have to stay on the rightmost lane and take the right road exit to make a U-turn.

The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City continues to encourage motorists to adhere to speed limits and obey all traffic laws. Pedestrians are urged to use proper crossing areas and bridges provided by the municipality for their own safety.

Al Salam Street Project will offer a state-of-the-art solution that meets the needs of the growing city.

It includes upgrading the existing road to an urban expressway with a network of roads and tunnels that will lead to smooth free-flow traffic. The street will be able to accommodate an estimated capacity of 6,000 vehicles per hour on each direction.

Upon completion of Al Salam Street Project, motorists will be able to travel through Al Salam Street without any traffic signals from Shaikh Zayed Bridge until Mina Zayed.
