RTA awards contract for phase 5 of widening key road

Dubai: The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract for Phase 5 of the widening and upgrading of Jebel Ali-Al Hebab Road.

This phase covers the sector extending 12 km from Al Hebab Police Station Roundabout (Dubai-Hatta Road) to the intersection of Dubai-Al Ain Road, at a cost of Dh113 million. According to the RTA, the main works include widening the existing road from two to four lanes in each direction.

"This road provides an alternative to motorists driving towards Jebel Ali Industrial Area and those driving towards Abu Dhabi, without having to pass through the city," the RTA official said.
