Dubai: Pre-paid traffic tariff stickers for "Salik" will be available from May this year all over the UAE, said a senior official at the RTA.

Salah Al Marzouqi, Deputy Director of Traffic and Director of Traffic Regulations at the RTA, said the stickers would be available at petrol stations, shopping malls and vehicle registration offices. It will be delivered to customers on request and can also be ordered or recharged online.

He said a massive public awareness campaign to educate people about toll system will be launched soon.

"Motorists using the card will be informed through SMS if they run out of credit in their cards," he said.

He said road signs will be installed to inform motorists about the toll-controlled zones.

"For motorists coming from neighbouring emirates and other GCC countries, huge sign boards will be installed on roads approaching Dubai to warn them about the toll controlled area," he said.

Al Mazroui said motorists would be able to go to petrol stations and get pre-paid stickers for Salik.

Also, he said if they do not want to use toll controlled roads, there will be signs leading to alternate routes.
