Dubai: Authorities have seized fake car spare parts worth Dh36 million in 20 raids during the first three quarters of the year.
The raids were conducted in order to protect the rights and safety of customers as fake parts are not screened for safety standards.
Al Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Toyota and Lexus in the UAE, has partnered with government authorities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in a series of training to help more than 240 government officials in the two emirates to differentiate between genuine and fake Toyota parts.
The training also highlighted the need to educate the public about the importance of using only genuine parts and how to spot suspicious products sold by unauthorised distributors.
Saud Abbasi, managing director of Toyota at Al Futtaim Motors, said, “Fake parts are not produced by certified manufacturers, hence they don’t meet any of the safety and quality standards set by the manufacturer.
“Customers need to be informed of the importance of buying only genuine parts for their vehicles, at authorised dealers, otherwise they could be putting themselves, their loved ones and the public at risk.”
Toyota genuine parts, sold by Al Futtaim Motors, are built to meet the highest quality standards, thus adding to its reliability and durability.
