Sharjah: The driver of a Saaed patrol was taken into police custody following an accident early Sunday that left a six-year-old Indian boy injured, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News.

The driver has also been questioned at Al Hira police station.

The boy, identified as S.Kh.H., was seriously injured and was taken for treatment to Al Qasimi Hospital after being run over accidentally by the Saaed patrol (special road service programme that deals with minor traffic accidents).

The accident took place on Maysaloon area of Sharjah at around 12.15am.

An official at Al Qassimi Hospital said that the child was admitted at the surgical section and an X-ray was taken.

The boy sustained medium injuries and fractures, according to the medical report, but his condition is stable, an official said.

Meanwhile, the father of the child told Gulf News that he was in Al Quoz area when the accident took place and the child was at his aunt’s house.

The father pardoned the driver of the Saaed patrol who ran over his son and dropped the case against him.
