Accident near Garhoud Bridge claims one life, two sustain injuries

Dubai: A woman was killed and two others sustained injuries in an accident on Shaikh Rashid Road near the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai on Monday night.

The female driver, who was on her way to Shaikh Zayed Road, lost control of her vehicle, crashed through the barrier and hit a taxi on the opposite side of road, police said.

The victim's vehicle caught fire on impact, police added.

Despite the decision behind installing these new radars in all the busy roads in Dubai, accidents like these still take place. I was there when the accident took place, and the traffic (including rubber-neckers) was not pleasing.

People should understand why the Roads and Transport Authority is doing by installing cameras.
