Abu Dhabi Police to send instant texts on traffic violations

Abu Dhabi: Motorists in Abu Dhabi will receive instant text messages about traffic violations committed by them thanks to an advanced messaging system developed by Abu Dhabi Police.

Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Daheri, general manager of Central Operations General Directorate, said Abu Dhabi Police are going to make its text messaging system for motorists more advanced and flexible.

When a motorist commits a traffic violation, he or she will get an instant text message with all relevant details such as the fine amount, nature of violation and exact place, etc. The message will also mention the previous violation and its fine. “This will act as a warning to drivers to be careful while driving,” Al Daheri said.

The information on fines will help motorists pay the existing fines without waiting for vehicle registration renewal. This will avoid accumulating fines.

Moreover, when a vehicle owner gives the vehicle to somebody else for temporary use, the owner can know of traffic violations committed by his or her vehicle.

The official urged motorists to strictly follow traffic rules to avoid getting fines.
