Dubai: Two of Pakistan’s biggest film stars, Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, were celebrated in a glitzy ceremony hosted by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi.

The event, held in Dubai, drew fans and members of the Pakistani community eager to see the actors recognised for their contributions to Pakistani cinema. Ambassador Tirmizi, joined by Consul General Hussain Muhammad and other diplomats, presented commemorative shields to Khan and Saeed in acknowledgement of their influence on the country’s arts and culture scene.

Speaking at the event, Ambassador Tirmizi praised the stars for helping elevate Pakistan’s film industry on the global stage. “The creative arts are one of Pakistan’s strongest forms of soft power. Artists like Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed bring our stories to the world and strengthen our cultural identity,” he added.

Famous actors

Both actors, known for blockbuster films and hit TV dramas, expressed their appreciation for the honour and the warm reception from the UAE-based Pakistani community. Mahira Khan, radiant in an elegant outfit, thanked the audience for their constant support. Humayun Saeed echoed her sentiments, calling the recognition a moment of pride in his career.

The evening was a celebration not just of two stars, but of the growing global reach of Pakistani cinema and the fans who make it all possible.

The Dubai event also served as a platform to promote their new film Love Guru, with Khan and Saeed engaging with fans and the Pakistani community. Their presence in Dubai underscores the film’s international appeal and the global reach of Pakistani cinema.

Love Guru

Love Guru, directed by famous Pakistani actor and director Nadeem Baig and written by Vasay Chaudhry, marks the duo’s on-screen reunion after nearly a decade since their collaboration in Bin Roye. The film, set to release on June 6, 2025 in UAE, during Eid Al Adha, follows the story of Sophia, an architect navigating love and family expectations.

Ambassador Tirmizi also highlighted the significance of cultural exports like Love Guru in shaping global perceptions of Pakistan, stating, “Our artists play a crucial role in showcasing the richness of Pakistani culture to the world.”

As anticipation builds for the film’s release, Love Guru promises to be a highlight of the Eid festivities especially for the Pakistani community, offering audiences a blend of romance, humour, and heartfelt storytelling.
