Sakhr Software Co recently demonstrated its latest technological developments in Arabic Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and TTS technology, which transforms written text into speech on Intel's new Pentium4/ 3 GHz microprocessor.

The event was dedicated to the launch of the new Pentium IV Processor, which operates at the speed of 3GHz, and to introducing its latest features. Sakhr Software Co demonstrated the proficiency of the Arabic OCR, a pioneering product developed by Sakhr whose efficiency remains unchallenged.

Sakhr's Arabic OCR is 99 per cent accurate and approaches 99.8 per cent after a very short font learning session. The gathering was attended by Fahad Al-Sharekh, business development director of Al Alamiah Group, who represented Sakhr Software.

Al Sharekh expressed his thoughts by stating, "Today I can say that the integration between Arab and international technologies has become a firm reality," he said.

"The first fruits of this integration are our programmes which operate 250 per cent times faster than before. Previously the software was able to recognise 400 characters a second but with the new Pentium4 Processor this number has increased to 1,000 characters per second."
