On a job hunt? You may need to get the fundamentals right
A talk on how to be successful in your search
Daniel Ough, a British expatriate living in Dubai, has devised a novel way to raise money for charity. On November 6, he will be giving a presentation of Fundamentals of a Successful Job Search at the Aviation Club. All the donations received to be shared between Medicins Sans Frontiers (MSF) and the Dubai Evangelical Church Centre (DECC).
Drawing on the job search skills he had learned at a time in his life when he was made redundant and during his 30-year career, Daniel offered to give his first presentation earlier in July this year.
Those attending were invited to make voluntary donations and sponsorships were solicited from others who wanted to help unemployed people or those in special need. Around $3,000 was raised and 83 people were helped at that first event.
Daniel has been teaching people the skills of managing a successful job search, networking and doing well at interviews. He has helped students understand the techniques of starting a career.
When Daniel learnt about MSF, he planned another presentation wherein all proceeds would be shared between MSF and DECC.
The suggested donation for this evening is Dh100. Daniel is hoping that it will be very well attended.
