The fire first broke out at 12.45pm in a tyre warehouse

Sharjah: A massive fire broke out on Friday in Industrial Area 17 that gutted eight warehouses that contained tyres and perfumes, according to a senior official at Sharjah Civil Defence.
The Operations Control Room at Sharjah Police said the fire broke out at around 12.45pm in a warehouse located opposite the National Paints Roundabout, and took more than three hours to extinguish.
Colonel Waheed Al Serkal, director general of Sharjah Civil Defence, said that there were no injuries or casualties, but that the financial loss is estimated to be over Dh1million.
"The fire initially occurred in a warehouse that contained tyres, but because of the strong winds the fire then spread to other warehouses that were located nearby. One of the affected warehouses contained flammable materials, such as cosmetics and perfume," said Col. Al Serkal.
All of the items stored in the warehouse were completely destroyed.
Col. Al Serkal said that they cooperated with the Civil Defence to put out the fire, in addition to helping Anjad patrols and Sharjah Municipality in order to ease the traffic flow and to remove the debris.
The cause of the fire will be revealed after further investigation.
