Dubai: Gleaming luxury vehicles were parked on the campus of Emirates Aviation College on Wednesday as part of a car show presented by students as their events management project.

Team leader Halar Mansour, a business management student, and his five-strong team have been working on the project since February, securing sponsorship, advertising through social media and raising funds for the Beit Al Khair Society that provides humanitarian services to the UAE nationals.

He told Gulf News the luxury car theme was chosen because it was bound to draw people in.

‘Fantastic'

"More than 600 students and affiliated members of the college have visited the show," he said.

"We asked friends to bring their luxury cars on the day of the event. We have Rolls-Royce Phantom, Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, Ferrari 458 Italia among others."

Sarah Thodey, the lecturer who teaches the events management module at the college, told Gulf News: "The brief was to put on an event, and I think it is a fantastic show that has fulfilled the [project] criteria including marketing, organising and entertainment."

Salama Al Dahey, a second year student in aviation management added: "It was a fun event, especially for the students. It gives us a break from studies.

"The concept is good too. Those who own fab cars were given the chance to bring these to the show.

"Visitors also posed with the cars for a nominal fee [Dh15].

"In addition, there was a voting system to vote for your favourite car."
