All the 24 injured passengers from Sharjah who were on the ill-fated bus that collided with a truck in Jordan are out of danger.

A spokesman for Al Barout Public Transport in Sharjah, which manages the bus, said 18 suffered minor injuries and six serious. "But we can say they are all out of danger. The 24 passengers are still in hospital undergoing treatment."

Four people were killed and more than 24 injured when the Sharjah-registered bus collided head-on with a truck at Al Omari near the Saudi-Jordanian border on Friday.

The four dead comprised two Syrians, including a four-year-old child, an Iraqi and a Saudi. The injured included one UAE national, but are mostly Syrian.

The bus, which carried 42 people, had left Sharjah and was bound for Syria via Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The accident occurred when a tyre burst and the driver lost control, colliding with a Turkish-registered refrigerated truck heading towards Iraq.

The bus left Sharjah with 24 passengers and two drivers. It picked up a Syrian in Saudi Arabia and many more passengers in Jordan.

The spokesman said: "The six seriously injured, who suffered either fractures or wounds, have been shifted to a private hospital.

"The committee we sent from the UAE has visited all the injured passengers at hospitals. They will be discharged after procedures have been completed. Once discharged, they will be provided with a bus to reach their destinations."
