Ras Al Khaimah: RAK Hospital will provide free consultations with nutritionists and GPs for those who are fasting.
This is part of the “Healthy Ramadan Initiative” to keep people healthy while fasting.
Anyone fasting can have round the clock consultations with GPs and morning consultations between 10am and 1pm with nutritionists.
Alice Mohan, RAK Hospital nutritionist, said balanced food and fluid intake is important between fasts.
Mohan will be available throughout Ramadan and will provide consultation on healthy eating, suitable diet, food allergies, gastrointestinal health and weight management.
She advised people to drink around 10 glasses of water each day and avoid prolonged contact with the sun.
She also encouraged eating lots of whole grain, fruit and vegetables and avoiding fried foods, sweets and soft drinks.
Alice also warned against over-eating during meal times and recommended taking a multivitamin once a day.
