Ministry of Health increases number of incubators to 17 following extensive renovation

Ras Al Khaimah: Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Health, on Tuesday inaugurated the Premature Infants Department at Saqr Hospital, following extensive maintenance and renovations.

A blaze had earlier gutted the department, which was then shut off and infants were referred to other hospitals and medical centres in the emirate.

The Ministry of Health has provided the Ras Al Khaimah Medical District with all the necessary equipment and machinery to replace those that were burned in the fire and the number of incubators have been increased to 17, to increase the capacity of the department.

Highest standards

Dr Hassan said the department is now operational again and has started receiving premature infants.

He stressed that the department has been prepared to the highest possible standards to secure the best possible results.

He said that the Premature Infants Department has been divided into four main sections with the capability to expand it according to the hospital's needs.

Dr Hassan said the eight new rooms which had been sealed off due to the shortage of nursing staff were now open and being used. The minister of health pledged to provide the department and the hospital with the necessary nursing staff.

He said the Ministry of Health is currently studying the issue of enhancing the infrastructure of all medical facilities which belong to the ministry, as a part of the it's strategy of renovating and replacing the medical centres and hospitals which need it, to enable them to improve their medical services.

He said that the instructions the ministry received from the UAE leadership stated that medical services should be made available for people everywhere in the country.
