Biker community shifts gears for a social cause

Dubai: Much needed blood will be donated today by bikers in Dubai to help replenish hospital blood banks.

2xWheeler in collaboration with the Dubai Blood Donation Centre at Al Wasl Hospital is organising a blood donation ride in an attempt to make a difference to the lives of people who need it.

Non-bikers who wish to donate blood can join the Blood Donation Drive organised by Volunteer in Dubai tomorrow between 4pm - 9pm at India Court, Ibn Battuta Mall.

"It's our responsibility towards the community," Shadi Awad who runs 2xWheeler, a social motorbike riding club, said.

"There are actually two reasons why we planned this blood donation run. To raise awareness and the feeling of responsibility in the UAE community and in specific the biker community about the importance of donating blood on regular basis," Awad said.
