Gulf News associate editor honoured for 25 years of service

Dubai: He was only 26 when he joined Gulf News as a reporter. Now, 25 years later, Duraid Al Baik continues to contribute to Gulf News' news coverage as Associate Editor.

"He is an inspiration to work with," Abdul Hamid Ahmad, Editor-in-Chief, told a gathering in honour of Al Baik at the Gulf News office on Sunday.
 
"His work ethics and contacts have always helped us get even the most difficult stories on time," said Mohammad Al Mezel, Deputy Managing Editor.

Al Baik, for his part, said it is "an honour to work for Gulf News". "When I started, people didn't know Gulf News. Now we are the number one newspaper. It is an honour to work for Gulf News and with all of you," he said.

Does he ever think of retiring? "Well, Mr Abdul Hamid has been telling me constantly to retire!" he said with a laugh. "But I love my work here."
