Emirates Council for Logistics Integration established, UAE Innovation Month launched

Abu Dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday chaired a Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi.
On his X account, Sheikh Mohammed stated: “Today, I chaired a Cabinet meeting, where we reviewed one of the most significant national infrastructure projects — the Etihad Rail Passenger Train — which was recently launched. The train operates at a speed of 350km/h and is expected to contribute over Dh145 billion to the GDP over the next five decades. The high-speed passenger train represents a new national ambition — a vital federal artery that strengthens the UAE’s future infrastructure, ensuring it remains among the most advanced and modern in the world.”
The Cabinet approved the establishment of the Emirates Council for Logistics Integration, aimed at unifying efforts and ensuring seamless coordination and integrational roles to strengthen the UAE’s position as a global trade hub. The council will bring together all key players in the logistics sector at both federal and local levels, including ports, roads, transportation, customs and railways, among others.
“In 2023, the logistics sector was valued at approximately Dh129 billion. Our goal is to increase this figure to over Dh200 billion within the next seven years, reinforcing the UAE’s status as a leading global hub for trade and logistics,” the Vice President said.
The Cabinet also launched the UAE Government Innovation Month, reinforcing innovation as an integral part of the government’s culture, operations and implementation mechanisms.
Sheikh Mohammed further said: “Previously, we established the Mohammed Bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation, which now shares best practices and knowledge with over 30 governments worldwide. Innovation will continue to be a driving force in enhancing government effectiveness and efficiency, making people’s lives easier and fostering business growth in the UAE.”
“Today, we also approved the National Cybersecurity Strategy, reinforcing the UAE’s position in the highest category of the Global Cybersecurity Index for 2024. With one of the most secure and advanced digital infrastructures in the world, we remain committed to strengthening and providing a resilient and secure digital environment that enhances and safeguard our national digital gains.”
