Role of parliament in Arab world discussed

Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday received Khalifa Bin Ahmad Al Dahrani, Speaker of the Bahraini parliament.

They discussed the role of Arab parliaments in consolidating relations and coordination between parliamentary councils in their capacity as representatives of their people, to serve local and national issues through related international organisations and bodies.

Shaikh Mohammad stressed the importance of the role of parliaments in enhancing the national unity and conveying the voice of people to their leaderships.

Shaikh Mohammad also received Alain Azouaou, the new French Ambassador and Nada Yafi, French Consul General in Dubai.

He welcomed the new envoy and wished him success in discharging his duties.

Shaikh Mohammad also received Abdul Wahab Abdullah, Tunisian Foreign Minister, who conveyed the greetings of Tunisian President Zine Al Abideen Bin Ali. They discussed bilateral ties and the latest developments on the Arab front.

Shaikh Mohammad stressed the need to activate inter-Arab cooperation and coordination in various areas in order to arrive at a minimum level of understanding and solidarity that would positively reflected on higher Arab interests and the living conditions of Arab citizens who are aspired to a dignified life, better future and stability.
