Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Tuesday received at his Majlis in Al Bahr Palace the winners of the Khalifa International Date Palm Award.

Shaikh Mohammad also received Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development and Chairman of the KIDPA’s board of trustees, and the award’s board members.

Shaikh Mohammad congratulated the winners, and praised their efforts, contributions and researches that added new concepts that serve the palm farming sector, and the quality of its produce.

Shaikh Mohammad said that the patronage of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is evidence of the importance given by the UAE to the palm tree, and its economic, religious and social value in the lives of the forefathers.

He added that KIDPA has contributed to the development of scientific research related to the palm tree, and boosting global interest in the tree.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed his wish for individuals, research bodies, institutions and international organisations to provide new aspects on the palm tree’s nutritional benefits or its preservation.
